The 2022-2023 SDSU men’s basketball season was one to remember. Ascending to levels never achieved before, the San Diego State Aztecs reached the Final Four and the National Championship game as one of the few West Coast programs to earn that level in several decades.

Led by coach Brian Dutcher and staff the Aztecs used elite level defense, rebounding toughness and a flurry of clutch offensive performances along the way to reach Houston.

The journey for SDSU was not an easy one. Early season debacles against Arizona and Arkansas held them back in the polls. Mid season growing pains against Nevada and New Mexico kept the Mountain West Conference title elusive enough. And end of the season heroics by Aguep Arop, Nathan Mensah and Lamont Butler, turned the year from very good to great.

Though the team would ultimately fall short of winning the National Championship, this SDSU team succeeded in winning over the Nation with their gritty play on the court and their selflessness off the court. They were truly a band of brothers united in their goal to put the team first.

Each player contributed to this years masterpiece and each game told a different chapter in the storybook season. Below we’ve painstakingly reviewed the highlights of all the games and narrowed it down to the top play for each. We’ve compiled it into a short presentation that best summarizes the display of the 2022-2023 season.
