The headline says it all; San Diego State defeated the Air Force and the Space Force in one night. Quite a feet we must say.
The Aztecs went into Clune Arena on the Air Force Academy campus in Colorado Springs for perhaps the last time and mopped up the floor with the Falcons, 88-54 and it wasn’t that close.
Five different players scored in double-digits and nine players logged in double-digit minutes as Brian Dutcher’s team improved their record to 17-6 and 11-2 in league play.
BJ Davis got back in his groove scoring 16 points to lead both sides in scoring. Miles Heide was next up with 13 points and 5 rebounds and perhaps had the play of the night when in the 2nd half just under the 10 minute mark knocked down a straight away three pointer to extend the lead to a 34 point margin.
Not far behind followed Pharoah Compton and Jeremiah Oden each with 11 points respectively and showed how they outclass the cadets physically on the court.
The all around beatdown of the Falcons was a much needed performance by a team that often played down to it’s level of competition. Being the final road game in Colorado Springs for a while, this years Aztecs didn’t want to replay a nail bitter of a finish as they had last season.
From the jump the Aztecs attacked the game with a ferociousness the many Rocky Mountain Aztecs on hand to watch had plenty to cheer about in the near empty arena.
Salute to the Aztec fan who made that sign.

The team was focused on each possession hitting 60% of their shots and an incredible 52-20 points in the paint difference.
But where the team will always focus first is ramping things up defensively. SDSU overpowered Air Force with 7 blocks, 14 steals, causing 20 turnovers on the night.
Up Next
The Aztecs continue to hold a share of first place in the Mountain West Conference along with Utah State. SDSU now has the week off without a game and much needed rest from the grind kicks in. They will prepare for a Saturday showdown back at Viejas Arena vs the Nevada Wolf Pack on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
