San Diego State is the No. 2 team from the Pac-12 in ESPN’s College Football Power Index.
In ESPN’s first FPI release of the 2026 season this week, San Diego State #59 ranked just behind Boise State #50 for the top spot from the Pac-12. The Aztecs came in with a score of 1.4 and ranks ahead of the next Pac-12 team Fresno State at #77 (-2.5) by a whopping 18 spots.
Washington State (-4.1) and Texas State (-4.3) follow through at #83 & #84. Wrapped up by Utah State (-6.7) at #92, Oregon State (-8.1) at #98 and Colorado State (-12.4) at #118.
Next to follow representing the Pac-12, Notre Dame, Oregon and Georgia in the top five, while Indiana, Miami, Alabama, LSU and Texas Tech rounded out the top 10.
According to ESPN Analytics, San Diego State has a projected record of 7.5 wins and 4.0 losses this season. ESPN Analytics gives San Diego State a 25.1% chance to win the Pac-12 this season. Boise State leads with a 36.4% chance of winning it.
The Aztecs are given a 7.4% chance to make the College Football Playoffs—while Boise State holds an 11.0% chance.
