This week our beloved 4-0 Aztecs get to rest and recover from a physical first four games. That doesn’t mean we as fans have no football of importance to watch this weekend however! Along with our goal of “winning-22”, we also want to see our guys claim the coveted access bowl spot.

While those rankings don’t come out for about three more weeks, San Diego State needs to be ranked as highly as possible going into the release of the first official College Football Playoff Poll. Aztecs fans all need to be rooting for the second team on each matchup below.

To that end, here’s a watch/rooting guide for Aztecs fans for Week 5!

Friday

#13 BYU @ Utah State – 6PM CBSSN

Tough to ever root for BYU as an Aztecs fan. Good thing we don’t have to this weekend. Here’s to the Aggies pulling off a big upset and boosting our Mountain West Conference legitimacy. Not likely, but oh well.

#14 Michigan @ Wisconsin – 9AM Fox
Michigan boasts one of the nation’s top running attacks. But Harbaugh is annoying AF. The Badgers need to badly redeem themselves after getting ran by Notre Dame last weekend.

Texas @ TCU – 9AM ABC
Lots of animosity here between the two, still in the B12 for the time being, opponents. You got this Horny Toads!

#24 Wake Forest vs Louisville – 9:30AM ACC RSN
Does Lamar Jackson have any eligibility left?

#7 Cincinnati @ #9 Notre Dame – 11:30AM NBC
Brian Kelly leads the fighting Irish against his former team, from over a decade ago, the Cincinnati Bearcats. Despite the Aztecs clobbering Cincy the last time the two played, the Bearcats have rebounded from their lackluster Tommy Tuberville days to be the favorites of the G5 teams for a New Years Bowl game and possibly the College Football Playoffs this year. Let’s hope Coach Kelly can pull something out of the hat and take down the still in the AAC team from Ohio.

#16 Coastal Carolina vs Louisiana Monroe – 11:30AM ESPN+
Coastal is rolling. Praying for a miracle here.

#3 Oregon @ Stanford – 12:30PM ABC
If anyone can take down the Mighty Ducks of Oregon, it’s the Cardinal of Stanford. A tough nosed team at home ready to make a statement in the PAC12. And hopefully can take the conference into a bigger spiral than where they are now. Oregon is the Conferences only hope for a CFB Playoff appearance. Did we say Let’s Go Stanford already?!?!

#6 Oklahoma @ Kansas State – 12:30PM Fox
Spencer Rattler is a bad bad man. But it’s too much fun rooting against those Boomer Sooners. Go Wildcats!

#11 Ohio State @ Rutgers – 12:30 BTN
Hate to say it but Greg Schiano has got the Rutgers playing some quality football. They played Michigan tough last week. Let’s hope they have some fight left to their game and can stun the Buckeyes.

UTEP vs UNLV – 3PM ESPN+
Does this game really even matter? UNLV is awful. But they did almost beat Fresno State at home last week and we need them to perform well to raise up the Mountain West’s standing. Go “terRebels”.

#15 Texas A&M vs Mississippi St – 4PM SECN
Meh. Just looking for some help here.

#4 Penn St vs Indiana – 4:30PM ABC
Sorry Schaeffer & Ohrnberger…Happy Valley needs to feel the pain.

#17 Michigan State vs Western Kentucky – 4:30PM BTN
Carson Baker throws for 400 yards, 6 touchdowns, kicks all the PATs, and even records a sack. Hilltoppers by 50.

#22 Auburn @ LSU – 6PM ESPN
Wish I was at this game in the bayou. DO SOMETHING Orgeron!

#20 UCLA vs Arizona State – 7:30PM FS1
Wanting UCLA to win to somehow make that Fresno State/Mountain West victory look better is fine. But we’d rather take that #20 spot off the board for our Aztecs. Play to win the game Herm!
