We here at Sons of Montezuma are putting into focus our top San Diego State Aztecs football players for you to to know in the upcoming 2025 season. Next up is Tight-End Seth Adams.

Name: Seth Adams

Position: Tight-End

Class: Senior

Height/Weight: 6’3″, 260 lbs

Hometown: Dawsonville, Georgia

Previous School: SouthEast Louisiana.

Seth Adams is one of those guys that’s just a pure football dawg. Having first competed for the Cumberland Patriots of the NAIA, Seth began as an offensive lineman. He then later switched to tigh-end after he transferred to Kennesaw State. The whole scenario is reminiscent of Aztec4Life and now NFL player, Daniel Brunskill.

Adams brings versatility and maturity to a tight-end group that is quietly pivotal in the success of SDSU’s new offensive scheme. With the ability to block like a lineman and catch like a wideout, Adams is poised to become a true hybrid threat in Lewis’ tempo-driven attack.

Adams can line up in multiple spots — in-line, in the slot, or even in the backfield — and maintain impact. He should be equally comfortable sealing the edge as a blocker or slipping out into space for short-yardage receptions. This flexibility makes him a valuable piece in a scheme that thrives on mismatches and motion.

But first thins first. What Adams needs to do most, and most well, is blocking. Using solid hand placement, leverage, and technique to anchor down against defensive ends and linebackers. His willingness to engage physically can give SDSU a reliable edge-sealer in the run game and an extra protector in max-protection passing scenarios.

While not being counted on as a deep threat, if Adams can focus on running crisp short and intermediate routes. He can be a dependable check-down target for whoever leads the Aztecs as a first year starter quarterback—especially in high-pressure situations.

But make no mistake, there isn’t a ton of tape available on Adams. With limited stats we’re going to go out on a limb and say Adams isn’t a burner. He’s not going to stretch the field vertically or create big separation downfield. His game will be built more on timing and leverage than speed, which may limit the number of explosive plays he generates in open space.

While healthy now, durability will remain something to monitor during the grind of the Mountain West schedule. This football season appears to be one of the lightest travel schedules for the Aztecs in quite some time. Just two trips to altitude exist, but it’s in Reno against Nevada and then the final road contest in New Mexico.

In 2025, Seth Adams is expected to start as the primary tight end and serve as a critical piece in both SDSU’s run-blocking schemes and passing game versatility. While he may not lead the team in receiving stats, his value lies in doing the little things that allow the offense to flow—setting the edge, converting third downs, and providing a security option in red zone packages.

Coach Sean Lewis’s offense leans heavily on tight ends for pre-snap movement and matchup manipulation. Expect to see Adams in motion, aligned off-tackle, or helping to chip blitzing linebackers before slipping out into open zones. His leadership and experience will also be vital in setting the emotional tone and bridging the gap between the lineman and the skill players on this offense.
