Monday afternoon Portland State DB Isaiah Green made it official and committed to San Diego State with at least two years of eligibility. The 6’1″ 180 lb defensive back is originally out of Oxnard, California where he played his high school ball at Oaks Christian.
In 2025 the sophomore racked up 100 tackles (58 solo, 41 assisted) and stood out on a Vikings team that struggled mightily. Though his performance received plenty of praise, it was Portland State that finished a rough season at 1-11.

The Aztecs however have lost a big group of defenders from their team since the portal opened. Green will be jumping in to bridge the gap between last years senior heavy unit and this upcoming season’s open opportunities.
Green’s biggest game might have been during a 63-0 shutout loss to BYU. During that game Green was all over the place as he totaled 15 tackles against the Cougars on the road in a hostile environment. Most notable is his range covering receivers and ability to step in, get physical and make plays.
At the end of the Vikings season they cut ties with their head coach and so likely the top talent they had was surely out the door. Green made his official visit this past weekend and was soon committed afterwards.
Knowing the Oaks Christian caliber of player, Green is no doubt an interesting pickup for Demetrius Sumler’s defensive unit. A big upside is that Green has a few years of experience in an FCS program under his belt and a few more left to go.
Though his team last season did not accomplish many wins, his game day experience against some of the best FCS teams from the Big Sky Conference like Montana and Idaho has matured him a bit. He also has game experience going against the likes of BYU, Hawai’i, Washington State, and Boise State during his college career—so he’s no stranger to the upcoming Pac-12 type of teams.
This will be one to keep an eye on as Spring ball comes around and the coaches really get a new evaluation with him in their desired schemes.
